Meet Kevin

I’m a finance manager. Right now I look after accounting and finance at Denbow Transport, a local company in soil, agriculture and landscape supply. Before that I spent nine and a half years at Westbow, ending up running the finances for their dairy and farming operations. I’ve managed a construction project through to completion. And I served as Director of Operations at Ruth and Naomi’s, running the business side of a local non-profit working with people who are unhoused.

I sit on the board of MCC-BC, on the Audit and Finance Committee. I’ve served on my church board and coached kids’ basketball and soccer.

I’m also an ultra runner. This year I finished the Buck Me This Goat is Knackered challenge — three mountain ultras in three consecutive weekends. In the last one I fell and broke my teeth. I finished the race. If you meet me, you’ll notice a tooth missing. It had to come out afterward.

I mention it because it’s the shortest way to explain how I work. I finish what I start.

Municipal work is practical — roads, sewers, infrastructure, where the next subdivision goes. This council has been able to disagree at the table and still get things done. That culture matters, and with the turnover coming this year, it’s about to be tested.

I think I can help hold that together. That’s why I’m running.

I’m running independent. No slate, no organization.

I’m a finance guy. I read the documents, and when something doesn’t add up, I say so. Then I keep working with the people I disagreed with.
